About
“Being a creative embroideress is not just what I do, it is who I am.
My animals, my home, my stitching: the three are equally important to me and totally indivisible.”
Helen created the True Embroideries Studio in 1981 to concentrate on aspects of embroidery which were, at the time, undervalued and little understood: "narrative" embroidery, representational work in traditional, even ancient, techniques encompassing a contemporary twist; techniques which allowed them to be accessible to modern audiences.
Five decades of exhibition work, commissions, writing, teaching and lecturing have seen her work featured in collections all over the world, her books published in numerous editions and languanges and her style infuence textile art, fashion and interior design. In more recent years she has become an internet icon for embroidery lovers with a presence on all major social platforms and a popular collection of online downloads, together with guest Podcast appearances and Seminars.
